We need to use all the tools of American power to advance our long-term strategic interests and protect the homeland-that includes a combination of military, diplomatic, economic, and cultural power. Rufus supports tackling global challenges through coalitions and multilateral institutions. American leadership is vital to a safe, secure, and prosperous world, as Rufus knows we are stronger when we stand with partners instead of acting unilaterally. That means standing up for human rights and the principles of justice, freedom, and democracy around the world. Rufus believes in a foreign policy that upholds America’s highest values. This isn’t just a moral imperative, but an economic opportunity. We also need to accelerate our transition to a clean energy economy with renewable energy sources like wind, solar and hydro. The United States must return to its position of global leadership, as seen in the Paris Climate Agreement. All levels of government must play a role in mitigating the effects of climate change, investing in sustainable technologies, and preserving our environment for generations to come. A Medicare-like system that is available to all citizens remains my long-term goal, and Rufus knows Massachusetts can continue to lead the country in this effort.Ĭlimate change is one of the greatest and most pressing challenges of our times. Rufus believes need to defend and strengthen the progress made by the ACA to increase access and decrease costs. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was a great achievement, but it’s only the beginning. Health care must be treated as a fundamental right, not a privilege, and all Americans deserve world-class health care that they can afford. Rufus believes rebuilding trust should be a top priority as it is a major key that allows Congress and our government to effectively govern. People have lost faith in the system and it is hindering on our nation’s Democracy. Rufus believes now is the time for a bold, aspirational policy agenda that is going to rebuild trust between our government and the American people.
